Cross Anywhere

2006 |
Video/Mixed Media Installation

Following on from making A Short Documentary About the Longest Zebra Crossing in the World, I was inspired by idea that life might be some how better if there were more zebra crossings. For the Cross Anywhere project I created a number of prototype roll-out zebra crossings, aiming to solve the common social problem of crossing the road safely and quickly. Although obviously such a solution was unrealistic it nonetheless bore the suggestion to the public that such a soultion could be feasible (perhaps only in a utopian society). The accompanying advert showed visitors how the crossing would be used and the display stand also showed the protoype models. The work also featured an accompanying website at www.crossanywhere.co.uk and business cards, allowing people to contact me if they did wish to buy one of the crossings.
